Canada Day Table Runner

When it's finished this table runner looks far more complicated than it actually is -- you will not be disappointed in it, guaranteed. You can make this lovely work of fabric art in either two or three colors -- the two color version is somewhat less complicated than it's three color compatriot so if you're feeling uncertain, pick it :)

Here are the fabrics I'll be working with:

Cutting Instructions For The Three Color Version

(I used a 1/2 yard of background fabric and a fat quarter each of colors 1 and 2)
Background Fabric (Gold For Me)
  • Four squares that are 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • Four squares that are 3" x 3"
  • Two strips that are 3" x 15 1/2"
  • Six squares that are 3" x 3" -- then cut them in half once diagonally
  • Twelve squares that are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" for HSTs*


  • Color #1 (Burgandy For Me)
  • Ten squares that are 3" x 3"
  • Ten Squares that are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" for HSTs*


  • Color #2 (Green For Me)
  • Ten squares that are 3" x 3"
  • Ten squares that are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" for HSTs*


  • Cutting Instructions For The Two Color Version


    (I used about a 1/2 yard of each fabric to make this runner)
    Background Fabric (White For Me):

  • Four squares that are 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • Four squares that are 3" x 3"
